I live for records like this; the love-it-on-first-listen wonders that come at me often enough to make me remember why I wanted to be in radio so badly when I was a kid. I wanted to hear ’em first, then I wanted to play ’em for everybody, sharing the joy. This record could’ve come out in any decade, going back to the 60’s and been a hit in any one of ’em. It’s Folk. It’s Country. It’s Pop. It’s timeless because of it’s captivating simplicity; because of it’s brilliant, knowing and honest lyric; because it’s got a hook that sticks in your head, inviting you to be humming along before it’s over the first time you hear it
