All Alright-Zac Brown Band (Southern Ground)

This is like one’a those recordings by one of the fine Southern Rock bands of the 70’s and 80’s that the Rock critics in Rolling Stone and Crawdaddy and the Village Voice would rave about and all the hip guys would then pontificate over weed and beer about how it was just too good for Top 40 radio, feelin’ very smug and self-satisfied as they did. Short course on songs like that: the musicianship was masterful, if a little indulgent (and always too long), but they forgot to find a hook. Could be wrong, it bein’ the New Country Age and all, but as cool as the record is, a Top 10 radio ranking would totally surprise me.
