No disputing the fact the guy’s a monumental talent. Still, as I was driving across East Texas this past weekend, tracking the album, I kept wondering why he insists on taking his nice little three-minute ditties out to four minutes. Twenty-five percent longer than a song needs to be doesn’t make it even 5% more enjoyable. Generally, less so, as the mind starts to drift. This one pretty much kept the attention, though. Never been a song quite like the storyline. Falling in love while sitting handcuffed in the cop car. It’s not the best song remaining on the album, that would be “Come Back To Me”, but it is a pretty good choice to service our format’s burgeoning 18-34 demo. They’ll get off on the ‘safe’ romantic outlawishness of it.
