This is a really interesting piece of work. Joseph and Mary presented as a typical (and near-modern?) working class couple. It reminds me a lot of the story of the couple in Kathy Mattea’s “Love at the Five and Dime”. It is the most refreshingly unique new Christmas song I’ve heard this year.
