This guy was the heavy buzz at the Country radio seminar in Nashville last week and a good number of programmers left with the advance and added it when they got back home. How that may translate to full flower success, I don’t know. It’s not the type of song big city programmers like, bein’s that its a real Country record, ya’see. Witness the Aaron Lewis example where it’s got strong album sales, strong single sales, big download tally’s and hot requests from adults and doesn’t show in the Mediabase national airplay Top 50 as yet. Even if “Mr Bartender” does turn out to be a short-term record, it’s still a healthy addition to the playlist. It is the kind of song that reassures Core listeners that, yes indeed they are listening to a Country radio station.
