Youngsters probably won’t know the name. One of the original Rock ‘n Rollers, Anka recorded his first hit record in 1956. “Diana” went to #1 on the Billboard chart almost immediately after its release in ’57. He’s written hits for Tom Jones, He wrote “My Way” for Sinatra. Over the years, his royalties for “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” theme song paid him somewhere between six and ten million dollars. At 80, he’s still selling out concerts world-wide and packs the house steadily in Vegas and working on projects with some of today’s young stars. He sounds like he’s got the energy of a 40 year-old football coach. The interview runs just over two hours. I heard it in three sessions. This fellow is amazing.
