Lemme look now…yes, I added this to the Edge/Album cut list seventeen months ago, August of ’11. Considering how long it’s been since the album was released, I am truly surprised that it became a single. Surprised, and then maybe not so much. This is a gorgeous piece of work. You hear the title, you think it’s a religious song, but then it’s not. It’s spiritual, but not exactly. What it is is a fellow’s contemplative amazement at just how much the woman loves him; without reservation; like Jesus does. When I first heard it, it was immediately on my personal list of “perfect Country songs.” I figured it would certainly be the next single and would then be nominated for Song of the Year. I now again expect the nomination. It won’t win, but’ll look appropriate on the score card.
